Austin, Texas has plenty to offer from the green parks, paddlers on Lady Bird Lake, to the artistic graffiti that’s painted in all nooks and crannies of the city. It’s always a fun day traveling around to see all the sites from the State Capitol to taking a stroll down the historic Rainey Street. But one of the best places to enjoy the views the city has to offer could be your home. Downtown Austin highrise apartments don’t just offer luxury, they offer sweet views too!
Here’s a list of some of my favorites.
The Bowie is probably my favorite building in Downtown Austin. It has the most unique style out of all it’s high-end luxury competitors. It radiates this unique rockstar vibe (probably because it’s named Bowie). Many of the units have giant floor to ceiling windows with awesome views of West Austin and the Hill Country. The best part? All the major amenities are on the top floors. The pool alone has a ridiculous view of South and West Austin.
Back in your unit after the pool, you’ll find open floor plans with grade-A finishings, not to mention stainless steel appliances and – wine racks! Perfect for that vintage red. If you’re looking for that extra special something, the penthouses feature even more luxurious appliances and even higher ceilings. Not only is the building a stylish architectural feat, but it has an excellent walkability rating with a Whole Foods directly across the street. A prime location to call home.
Northshore is on a different level in terms of luxury. I’ve never seen anything like it from the amenities to interior finishes. The infinity edge pool, while not on top of the world like Bowie’s, is perched right along the river giving you an intimate grounded connection to Austin’s coolest stuff and panoramic views of the hill country. You’ll have to make sure the apartment you’re in faces the right direction otherwise you’ll be face deep in the neighboring buildings.
These apartments are not just luxurious for you, they also offer luxury amenities for your furry friends. While you’re lounging on the pool deck – enjoying the many cabanas and sun beds available – your furry friend can have a spa day all their own at the pet spa. Northshore makes exploring Austin easy, being in close proximity to lots of shopping – including Trader Joe’s, restaurants, and entertainment.
Gables Park Tower is a stunning building. While the amenities only give you an eye-level view of the exterior, many of the apartments themselves have wide-ranging views of South and West Austin. The balconies give you ample space to enjoy them.
But beware! The freight train comes by multiple times a day, creating a loud shrieking noise, spoiling everything for a few minutes while it passes by. It’s hard to ignore this when living there. The amenities here go beyond the expectations for a luxury apartment building, with a pool, game room, putting green, bocce ball court, and even – a demonstration kitchen. Enjoy the views on your balcony and then meet up with your neighbors for some games.
AMLI on Second has some great south-Austin facing views with nice big balconies. The amenities are tucked inside of the building, which won’t give you much view-access of the city, however. Your sweet-view options here would be limited.
The 2nd street district is one of Austin’s prime locations, filled with dining experiences from across the globe and lots of local shops making the AMLI an excellent place to call home.
My favorite feature of Monarch is their massive balconies. They almost double as outdoor living rooms. While their west-facing views are blocked by the neighboring Bowie, the other views give you awesome access to the heart of Downtown Austin. Monarch features one of Austin’s only heated pools, so you can swim to your heart’s content – even in the colder winter months.
If swimming isn’t your thing, no worries! Living here you’ll find yourself in close proximity to beautiful hike and bike trails. When you’re not at the Downtown farmer’s market, exploring the restaurants, or at the nearby museum – relax at home. You’ll find luxury stainless steel appliances, wood floors, and floor to ceiling windows all with that Austin feel.
These two buildings right next to each other have some of the best views of the river and Downtown Austin, while you have to go on higher floors to benefit, the access can be amazing. Windsor’s South and West facing units may be some of the best in the entire city.
Skyhouse’s rooftop amenity deck, complete with a rooftop pool, is amazing too for its intimate views of Rainey Street and Downtown. The Fitness center is one of the best around, with the latest cardio and TRX equipment – all your fitness needs and more will be met here.
The Catherine is not technically in Downtown. Given how big and nice of a building it is, I technically don’t care. I’m putting it on here anyway! Being on the other side of the river from Downtown gives the Catherine the most unique view of Austin’s skyline out of any building in Austin.
Their sky lounge itself is worth the price of admission itself. Being in a bigger building, you’ll find a spacious home with a sizable kitchen and your own private terrace – perfect for enjoying those stunning views.
